Basis Weight Valve

Basis Weight Valve – 1550 Series

The Basis Weight Valve is a precision-engineered V-Notch Segmented Ball Control Valve developed to deliver accurate, stable, and continuous basis weight control in paper and pulp manufacturing processes. Designed for critical regulating duties, the valve ensures consistent flow control performance even under fluctuating operating conditions, directly contributing to improved paper quality and machine efficiency.

At the core of the valve is a precision-machined V-notch segmented ball, optimized to provide linear or equal-percentage flow characteristics across a wide operating range. This advanced geometry enables precise modulation at very low openings while maintaining high flow capacity at larger openings, ensuring uniform sheet formation, consistent GSM, and superior end-product quality.

The valve is equipped with an intelligent electric actuator featuring an integrated positioner and continuous position feedback. Supporting 4–20 mA control signals, the actuator allows seamless integration with PLC and DCS systems and ensures smooth, stable closed-loop control without hunting or overshoot.

Built for 24/7 continuous regulating service, the Basis Weight Valve offers a robust construction with soft-seat or metal-seat options, making it suitable for handling fibrous stock, fillers, coating colors, and chemically aggressive media.

Design & Construction:

At the core of the valve is a precision-machined V-notch segmented ball designed to provide accurate throttling performance across a wide operating range. The intelligent electric actuator with integrated positioner and feedback system ensures precise positioning and stable control performance in continuous duty applications.

Working Principle:

Working Principle
The intelligent actuator receives a Inching control signal from the DCS or PLC. Based on this signal, the actuator precisely rotates the V-notch segmented ball.
Open Position
At small openings, the V-notch profile allows accurate low-flow control. As the valve opens further, flow increases proportionally, ensuring stable basis weight regulation.
Closed Position
The actuator continuously monitors position feedback, ensuring accurate positioning and repeatability even under varying process conditions.

Automation & Control Options:

  • Control Modes: On/Off, Modulating (4–20 mA / 0–10 V)
  • Feedback Systems: Position Transmitter, Potentiometer
  • Control Functions: Integral Controller, Auto Calibration
  • Communication: PLC / DCS Integration (Analog & Digital Signals)
  • Control Interface: Local Control Panel (LCP), Remote Operation
